Winter winds up...

AUSVM AUSVM - Monday, July 18, 2011

Spring doesn't officially kick off till 1st September, but we see bits and pieces of Spring VM starting to creep into stores, in particular window displays.  Typically most retailers will gear up and start VM ing a spring look and feel early August... so there is still a tiny bit of time to keep the winter theme going in your store... for those of you who are looking to get rid of, move on, sell off the last of your winter stock, see our winter VM pics below, these may give you a few tips + some inspiration on keeping displays fresh till your Spring VM kicks in. Enjoy!

Welcome to our new look website!

Jake Mcdonald - Thursday, February 17, 2011
It has been a work in progress for a while now, but we got there in there end. Thanks to our web designers and developers Passionfruit Design, the entire AUSVM site has had a facelift and we are thrilled with the results! The biggest development would have to be our VM Blog, replacing our quarterly e-newsletter; you now get to Window Watch with AUSVM and hear about it when it happens.

Window Watching ... who do we love?

Linda Appleyard - Sunday, October 10, 2010

Clever concept & very clever use of a decal here by Industrie, we love the size (big Espadrille dominates the window) we love the statement, totally owning the fashion.

Retail 2010

Linda Appleyard - Sunday, October 10, 2010

We recently attended Retail 2010 (formally known as Retail Expo) at Sydney’s Darling Harbour and visited a virtual window display put together by the VM Students from Wodonga TAFE. The themes of the window displays were international, so it was a trip to New York, Tokyo & Paris. The VM Students worked in conjunction with organisers, suppliers and designers to create stunning window displays. Mannequins were positioned in front of oversized TV screens, images rotated on the screens capturing the essence of each city, and a variety of props completed the displays. The end result a virtual VM trip around the world ... well done girls it looked great! For more information on VM courses available at Wodonga TAFE, go to www.wodongatafe.edu.au

Spring Hot Tip

Linda Appleyard - Sunday, October 10, 2010

If you are looking to prop out your window or store display or simply want to make a statement with Spring, key props to use this season are; butterflies, birds, floral arrangements, potted flowers, fabric, green foliage, grass and ....lots of it. Retailers are heavily propping displays, to create the theatre & drama in their store fronts. So don’t be shy with your VM application, make big bold statements and go overboard, entertain your customers, they will remember you for it!

Spring has sprung at AUSVM

Linda Appleyard - Sunday, October 10, 2010

What an exciting time of year for the VM industry. From a Visual Merchandisers point of view, our working life becomes so much easier during spring. Product is lighter (no more time consuming product layering – yay!). Product is brighter (tons of colour to draw from) and the season brings about endless inspiration for creative concepts. All in all it’s a great time for Visual Merchandising! So AUSVM this season have gone butterfly made, they are current, cute, and colourful, and a great prop to use in your display space to draw attention to product and advertise the change in season!
